in fact i am seeking for a suitable method for modelling settlement due to tunneling, there are mainly tow approach for numerical modelling (especially for Static and quasi Static analyse), first one is based on implicit and other one is based on explicit. And my question is which one is better?

there are a lot of software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, PLAXIS, FLAC3d and so on which can be used for simulation of settlement in surface due to tunneling especially in urban area.

As you know, explicit method includes a set of direct high-order differential equations relating unknown and nown parameters, and implicit method contains a number of low-order differential equations. If you wanna take the effect of two or more coupled variables such as compaction, hydraulic flow and destressing  into account, I recommend you to use implicit method because of lower run time it takes. However, if the accuracy is the most important factor it is better to conduct explicit modeling.
