Quiet often some very successful researchers in their own field of studies and disciplines may have developed very focused and productive research, as well as excellent research teams. However, they may not always have experienced creating successful and productive multidisciplinary research projects and large multidisciplinary research teams. How to bring together researchers who are already very successful in their own discipline, but may not have exposure to multidisciplinary research experience, at minimum cost?
Eduard, I think this is a very relevant issue in contemporary academic world. There is increasingly the need for collaboration on research projects. I think the first step to get people to collaborate is coming out with a project that cuts across disciplines and at the same time relevant to the research interest of those successful researchers you are seeking to bring together. You will need to let them understand that, their expertise and experience in their distinct field will be very critical. In addition, you will have to demonstrate to them without doubt how they will benefit from multi-disciplinary research. You can do this by pointing out some of the weaknesses in their earlier works which you think could have been addressed by other expertise that they are lacking as individual researchers. It is very critical to get everyone involved at every stage (conceptualization, design, implementation, evaluation etc) of the project. Cost-sharing is one effective way of minimizing cost involved in research projects.
My advice is very simple. Get researchers to feel as though they are a critical facet of the research and that input from everyone is needed. As much as possible, try to have the input equally divided among researchers so they get a real sense of working in collaboration with others across disciplines.
Collaboration between natural/biological/physical and social scientists can produce interesting and informing designs and results. Challenges also exist in establishing and sustaining these cross-field collaborations. Toward this, consider:

This is indeed a very important question. I want to offer a simple strategy: Since you are the one that identifies that a certain topic may be understood from different angles, organize a one day, low cost conference at an institution that you are involved with, and there, in the roundtable, the three to five researchers invited will be surprised to find out that their topic can be understood from different angle, and they may agree to engage in further multidisciplinary efforts.

Eduard. Agreed. The next question concerns incentives: specifically, how to encourage researchers to gravitate toward interdisciplinary teams. Insofar as the most interesting, challenging, and complex problems but those most difficult tom address are interdisciplinary in nature, perhaps incentives ought to begin with journal editors and funding agencies.

Global multidisciplinary research teams working side by side with the industry and business, round tables, panel discussions, open forums, virtual conferences, seminars, workshops, and journal editors, are equally important. To move forward to next generation of research and innovation, it is important to accept the fact that we are all just humble beginners, regardless of how much we may know, studied or achieved. It is in spirit of accepting to learn from others and share our ideas as colleagues, that together we may open a New Level of Research Pandora Box. It would be truly naive to think that today's technology is perfect and to focus to much on celebration, instead of accepting that we are yet at the very beginning of exploration of next generation research that we could not imagine past moth. Philosophically speaking, the newest technology that will be sold this Christmas may become tomorrow's obsolete.
