What is the most appropriate bioreactor model for biogas generation with mixed waste (animal waste and agricultural waste - grass)?
Where do you want it to be set up? Do you plan a small-scale setup maybe for private farmers or a industrial plant of larger scale?
It is a medium-scale plant. There are lot of biomass and waste available on a big farm.
So are we maybe talking about 64m³? I worked in a project in Kenya with a very basic BGP system which was incredibly cheap to build and didnt need additionally heating as the once here in Germany do due to the local climate at the ecuator. I could get you in touch with the company who builds them. They are mainly bricks and PVC pipes. I dont know if this is helping you at all?!
Hi José, on the most appropriate bioreactor model, you first need to set the volatile solids content that will work.
This can define the constructive aspect of the reactor: complete mixing, plug-flow, batch, and other settings.
Your answer depends on the scale of the project, the cost benefit ratio.
For that answer will have to make Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) testing and evaluate the yield of CH4 for different levels of volatile solids.

Tests for definition of volatile solids and BMP are only applied when there is certainty of biomass to be used. As I explained in the first question there is a very wide range of waste and types of biomass (Animal and grass). Therefore the solution should be useful for biomass variations. For a regional implementation program must set a single standard model, which is more suited to these conditions. I would like to discuss this methodology with you.

You suppose to work with semi batch reactor, you have a very wide range of waste and types of biomass (Animal and grass) as you said,so all you need is a big hole in the ground with piping system, but you need to decide to work aerobically or not?
