To my experience, we found that foliage application of recommended doses of nano-Zn ( 10 ppm concentration) may enter through the cuticle or stomata and after entering the nano-particles are moving through the cell sap: while moving the nano-particles are triggering the co-enzyme systems of the plants resulting more release of enzymes which help plants  more active resulted higher mobilization of native unavailable nutrients present in the rhizosphere. It also result more nutrient use efficiency and ultimately crop yields. Ob-course we have not worked about insect control in depth but our observation is that nano-Zn spread plants have much less insect attack than the application of similar amount of mega-Zn spread plants.
