Rice yield depends on many factors, abiotic or biotic. Soil nutrient ratio is one of the most important factors for rice cultivation. Nutrient Imbalance creates unfavorable condition for rice. So, making nutrient balance in soil is necessary to increase rice yield. For this reason, at first I have to know ideal nutrient ratio in soil for rice.

Nutrient ratio in plant parts is more important than nutrient ratio in soil. One thing is very much important for soil is the critical concentration of respective nutrient and respective crop. Nutrient ratio in soil does not a matter for plant uptake. Because the nutrient uptake is not proportional to the nutrients in soil. Ions in large supply in the soil solution, such as Ca and S, can accumulate near the root surface. One important implication of the plants ability to pick and choose nutrients from soil solution is the relative unimportant of the ratio of nutrients in the soil solution. As long as a given nutrient is supplied to the root surface at a concentration high enough to meet the demands of nutrient uptake, the demands of growth and development will normally be met. For example, the ratio of Ca and Mg on the soil cation exchange sites and in soil solution has little effect on the ratio of these nutrients in the plant. The plants select selects the ions it needs, allowing the others to accumulate in the soil solution at the root surface. Altering the soil to supply adequate amounts, the concept of critical concentrations, has generally proven more effective than altering the soil nutrient ratio. Moreover, it is very difficult to synchronize the nutrient ratio in soil and in plant tissue.
DRIS system also consider the nutrient ratio in plant system, not in the soil. However, it is a good method to identify the yield limiting nutrient in the soil of a specific location.
