I am wondering if there is a mechanism of the hydrogen peroxide effect of the polymeric substrates. I want to understand the mechanism of action and if there is any way to prevent such effect to protect the polymer from deterioration.
Dear Ahmed Nada, difficult to give a precise answer without knowing the polymer in question. H2O2 is an oxidant, it may cause both actions as curing or crosslinking and degradation. To protect the polymer use anti-oxidant or radical scavenging compounds. My Regards
As Bouaziz mentioned it is hard to say what effect this strong oxidizing reagent can have on polymers. It has, however, degredating effect on materials bud depends on the type of polymer. Please see the following Ref.
As expert on Polymers Science and Technology I would say the same as Abdelkader BOUAZIZ and Mohammad Kooti because H2O2 is a strong oxydant and it can also make crosslinking reactions within the monomers very fast.
