I knew there are some interesting applications that can make use of embedded accelerometers in smartphones.
Besides low measurement accuracy and high weight, I guess the important drawback of these applications is their low sampling frequency. I mean, fast vibrations are completely invisible to the applications that I have used so far. Therefore, I just wanted to ask if anyone can introduce an application with a high sampling frequency, and in general, I wonder what is the highest sampling frequency we can expect from these devices?

all depends on what you want to capture. If you have access to underlying firmware etc you can sample high enough to capture what ever movement you need. A quick literature search will best inform suitable sample rates for gait, physical activity, upper limb movement, tremor, etc

Do you mean that there is no practical limit in sampling frequency of smartphone accelerometers?
We have used B&K accelerometers with a sampling frequency of 2 kHz for soft tissue vibration in running. Since the highest practical frequency was less than 100 Hz, the sampling frequency of 2000 Hz seemed appropriate. However, in the case of smartphones, the applications I have used so far (Seismometer & Phyphox), the highest sampling frequency was not more than 100 Hz, which practically, couldn't effectively capture a frequency more than 5 Hz.
Is there any specific application that you have used?
