I want to know the possible percentage of diladehy in chitosan by sodium periodate.
kindly send me the reply as well as references as soon as possible.
Dear Mudassir,
There is a reference of chitosan hydrolysis using potasium peryodate but in spanish. You can download from

It seems that peyodate reaction produce chitosan hydrolysis instead of ring opening like in celullose and other glucan type polymers. This would be do to the amine and acetamide group in chitosan/chitin polymers.
Best regards,
Gustavo
