What is the future of sensor technology to estimate soil properties.....what should be the prime criteria to build an own sensor that can be useful for Indian farmers....
Even now the sensor technology for smart farming has been developed extensively. Real time data interpretation can be realized using existing sensors for soil properties such as moisture, pH, and nutrients. Further, integrated system to identify plant growth can be used to automate nutrient supplement whenever the plant needs it.
I don't think building own sensors is extremely needed. What i feel is to have sensors that are calibrated to required conditions.
Sensor technology should be explored in a way so as to make it more reliable as well as farmers friendly. No doubt the already developed sensors are ruling in the smart farming system, but still there is a scope to make them farmers friendly with reference to their operating and costing. The enhanced precision level with an affordable cost of the sensors will definitely be a precious boon for the smart farming.
Here we talk about the sensor technology in agriculture right!!. But lakhs of peoples in the fields doesnot know what is sensor. Actually we know that it helps farmers and their farming gives better yield from their field. I think we need better awareness programs that should be make the knowledge of technology in farming
