What is the frequency in hertz of the time in second?

I am trying to make a digital clock by using some decade counter 7490, decoder 7447 and 7 segment displays. I set the frequency of the clock divice at 1.26 Hz and i noticed a difference (a delay) while comparing it with a real clock. What frequency should i set on the clock piloting the digital clock?

Hi Corneille,

Is your digital clock linked to the power network frequency (50Hz) by any mean? What is piloting/driving your clock? You should know that power grid is likely to cause some delays if it is the piloting "clock" especially in our region due to the quality of supply not being very reliable (frequency variation).
