Eating Disorders and Nutrition:

Owing to the nuclear family and lack of mothers' involvement in training of the child to feed on their own has led to this research gap, that can be quickly picked up and intervened.

The involvement of nanny to feed the child is also another concern- which wasn't there in the Yester years of children upbringing in India.

Why this is a concern for me as a school oral health researcher?

Thats becoz:

Children’s oral health is affected by what they eat and their eating habits.

Poor eating habits or eating disorders can lead to malnutrition, which in turn increases the risk of cavities.

The way parents manage their children's diets, including how much control they have over food choices, also influences children’s eating habits and oral health (Scaglioni et al., 2018).
