I am trying to develop of a Sustain release drug (BCS class I). so that, I want to use a hydrogel forming agent which molecular weight out of range between 100,000 and 8,000,000. I am also wanting to avoid following hydrogel forming polymer group- Polyethylene oxide, hydroxypropyl, methylcellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose and Carboxyvinyl polymer.

Polyacrylic acid and its vinyl copolymers with amine, amidine and nitrile functions, polyacrylamides (NIPAM, NIPMAM and NEMAM), chitosan and the methylated and chlorinated derivatives of chitosan, alginates.
With my best regards
polacrylamides, N- isopropylacrylamide and acrylic acid for hydrogels but if you required biomedical properties so go with chitosan, CMC, HA and alginates.
