Electron affinity related with work function.

The work function (W) is calculated by comparing the vacuum level (Evac) in electrostatic potential with the Fermi energy (EF),
W= Evac- EF ,
On the othe hand, the Fermi energy is given by the equation
EF= - (IP + EA)/2
where EA ia the electron affinity and IP is the ionization potential, see, the figure.
