Hi, If we expose semiconductive conjugated polymer film, used for polymer solar cell, under beta particle, does it's performance decrease or increase. If it degrade, what can be the possible reason for this.
There is always pron and cons happens when the conjugated polymers are irradiated by either beta particle or gamma radiation. But my point of view I found in my results that the performance of conjugated polymers are increases depends on dose rate.
(1) Formation of chemical bonding between polymer-polymer due to irradiation increases the stability of the organic material from the chemical oxidation (degradation rate decreases).
(2) The effects of irradiation on the samples shows the origin of new peak and sharpening of the peaks, indicate that the samples become more crystalline.
(3) The chemical and physical changes occur in CPs are due to linear energy transfer by the radiation.
(4) As the conjugated polymers size reduces from micro to nano, the conductivity further increases.
These above written points are enough to indicate that irradiation will increase the performance of solar cell.
