What do you mean with refractive index expansion on solar cells? Do you mean to grade the refractive index from that of air to that of silicon gradually instead of using one layer of anti reflective coating. If this is the case, such refractive index grading will improve reduce the reflectance to a much less value. The direct consequence of this is to increase the photoconversion efficiency of the solar cells. Such grading of the refractive index is becoming possible by the nano materials which changes the surface to good absorbing state.

I did a calculation of the refraction index of the absorber CuO thin films, I found an increase in n from 2.88 to 2.96, I would like to know what is the effect of the expansion of the refraction index in solar cells application ?
For effective antireflective coating there is a relation ship for the best antirefelective function. This relation is
n of the antireflective coating functions = sqroot of ( nair x n solar cell materials)
I do not know what is that layer used for? So i assumed that you will use it for antireflective coating. Therefore , i brought you the matching condition for the antireflective coating above.

Increasing the refractive index means narrowing the band gap of the material which helps solar cell to respond more in higher wavelength region of the solar specturm.
