Actually I am also working with boehmite. I would like to help you, nevertheless I do not understand your question so well. What kind of adhesion you need? Did you need to link a boehmite sol in a specific surface?

In short, with other oxides it is the possibility of creating high concentration of ionized OH on the surface, so that a typical sol-gel condensation reaction,  can occur and yield a strong chemical bond, as in.                  AlO +  HOSi    =. AlOSi. +  OH-

happens with hydrolyzable functional groups on molecules and on other surfaces.  

Adhesion of oxides and oxi-hydroxides is strongly dependent on T, P, solvent parameters, phase purity, cristallinity, processing parameters. So, please, be more specific on process and formulation you are working.
