TILLING technique start with the development of a mutagenized (normally EMS) population, which then further evaluated for gene mutations followed by functional association genes to a phentoypes. Whereas, eco-TILLING is meant to natural population of crop plants like 500 barley genotypes to identifiy DNA polymorphisms through sequencing which can be putatively linked to traits. Eco-TILLING offer more advantages for beeding as it deals with the natural population of crop plants.
