Can anybody please explain what is the difference between self diffusion coefficient and tracer diffusion coefficient? How these quantities are related to the chemical diffusion? what is mathematical relation between these? Also suggest me some book or material to read to gain clarity on this.
Yes I have gone through the whole lecture series. I do find the difference between Tracer diffusion and chemical diffusion. But I didn't find the difference between self diffusion and Tracer diffusion. It this lecturer it has been written that Tracer diffusion is equivalent to self diffusion if there is no significant isotopic effect. Can you please explain what is exactly this isotopic effect.
I got some idea after reading this. But if you can clarify me the following points ??
1) If I have a pure crystal of silicon(22Si) with no isotopic substitution and is in chemical and thermal equilibrium. If I calculate the diffusion of Si in this case it is called self diffusion. If not please correct me.
2) If I have a crystal of silicon with isotopic substitution(some 23Si is substituted to 22Si) and is in chemical and thermal equilibrium. If I calculate the diffusion of 22Si in this case it is called tracer diffusion. If not please correct me.
3)If I have a crystal of La1-xSrxMnO3 is in chemical and thermal equilibrium. If I calculate the diffusion of O2- in this case it is also called tracer diffusion. If not please correct me.
