I am writing my master's thesis in the structure displayed in the attached picture.
I write about the new methods I developed in the methods section. There are some topics that I don't know in which chapter to include them. For example, one of my methods is related to Cross-Validation. I want to add some background about Cross Validation from the literature. Where should I write about it? In the introduction, or to add this paragraph in the methods before the relevant method?
You might mention it in the objectives in the introduction, but the part Materials and Methods is the main part to explain.Wish you luck.
Introduction is a part of thesis or article shows some old findings of that topic and shows the importance of your work that you are intending to do. Materials and methods is the part that explains materials used and method of application. I suggest to you to read any published article ,and you will get more information.Regards.
