In the results windows of NetSim i see link throughput and application throughput. Can someone explain what is exactly the difference between these two? Also I see a single number for throughput (link/application) this in a table and moving average plots (link/application)? What do they represent?
Link Throughput === The link-layer throughput to measure
network performance.
Application Throughput === The application layer throughput to measure
application performance.
and the way of measuring is depending
- Layer specification.
- Overhead due to headers.
- Retransmission overheads.
- The transfer time.
- With or without packet loss.
- TCP window size.
- UDP transferring data.

So you are saying Link throughput will include all overheads (of intermediate layers), while application throughput is just of payload ?
