I am a health services researchers with expertise in systems science and GIS methods. My research is focused on identifying areas in need of specific interventions that can address food insecurity at the community level. I am also working with community organizations working on food insecurity.
My long-term future goal is to develop and implement a community-based intervention.
I would like to take some training to achieve my long-term goal, but I cannot decide which one is a better option for me: implementation science or community-based participatory research (CBPR). Any insight is appreciated.

If you have the time and resources, you may consider doing both. As from what you have described above, you may need both. These 2 concepts are very similar, but not the same and are distinctively used for different purposes. But considering your long-term goal which you say is to 'develop and implement a community-based intervention', then focus on implementation science.
Yes-community-based participatory research will allow partnerships with communities where you and they interact together in the creation, implementation and evaluation of your research and implementation science is implementing discoveries into the practice setting.
