"Lianas" are woody climbers, whereas "Herbs" are the plants that do not have woody stem.

Herbs are non-woody plants without persistent aerial parts (e.g. Solanum nigrum), while lianas are climbing plants with long woody rope like stems of anomalous anatomical structure (e.g. Amphilophium pannosum)
