Difference between Gram Positive Bacteria and Gram Negative Bacteria

The differ in the cell wall, Gram negative bacteria ( GNB ) have a thinner cell wall while in the Gram positive bacteria ( GPB ) is a thicker. The peptidoglycan content in cell wall of GPB varies from 60-90 % while in GNB varies from 10-40%. The lipid content in cell wall of GPB varies from 1-4 % while in GNB varies from 11-22 %.

Teichoic acid is present in the cell of GPB while it is absent in the cell wall of GNB.
