I am new to nano materials. I don't get the terminology, carbon nano particles. I get same results for carbon nano tubes and carbon nano particles. Please help me with that.
Nanotubes is a nanosize diameter tube with a single or several layer wall whil nanoparticle is a particle with a nanosize diamete. Their parameters have different properties as a size dependence and each of them have different technological application
for example nanotubes of carbon is a semiconductor with energy gaps reduce to about 1eV where it's bulk state is insulator

Nanoparticles refer to the particles having their physical dimensions below 100 nm. It is independent of the shape, for example you can have nanoflakes, nanorods, nanoflowers, thin films, etc.
Within these nanomaterials, there are especial geometries which look like hollow tubes having diameters within the "nanometer" range. Those nanomaterials which look like tubes are referred to as "Nanotubes".
Now you can have Nanomaterials or Nanotubes of various materials. One of the most charming is "Carbon Nanomaterials". You can find various geometries of Carbon nanomaterials. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are one of them. It is important to note that all of the charm in the nanomaterials is owing to the quantum confinement of the electron.
When one dimension of a bulk (3D) material is reduced to less than 100 nm (normally, between 100 nm to 1 nm), the material can be regarded as nanofilm or nanosheet (depending upon structure).
When two dimensions of a material are reduced to less than 100 nm, the material can be regarded as nanofiber or nanotube (depending upon structure).
When all three dimensions of a material are reduced to less than 100 nm, the material can be regarded as nanoparticles (depending upon structure).
Carbon Nanoparticle is a particle of carbon with all three dimensions (i.e. length, width and height) in between 100 nm to 1 nm, whereas the Carbon Nanotubes is a rolled (in the form of tube or cylinder) structure of graphene (Carbon) with two dimensions between 100 nm to 1 nm (graphene is an extracted single layer of graphite).
