I'm Juan Carlos, a high school student who is working with electropinning, I made an electropinning machine with a 21g needle and a 30kv high voltage source and the distance between my needle is 5cm (these conditions are already complex that I would not like to know if in their research they obtained that the higher the density, the higher the high voltage must be or if there is any relationship because the electrospinning worked twice but I did not know the density (it was more than 20w/v) and now that I try to find the density trying No I can find it. the solution is pva,i already tried with 20,25,30,35,40 (w/v) without any dopand. i should tried with w/v less than 10w/v? (i dont have a bomb).you can check the video o from one of those times that worked. and the drop is de pva with silver nanoparticles.but now i only lokking for pva electrospining without something. the power supply is a half of medium wave rectified
What solvent are you using? The key concept behind electrospinning is the accumulation of a charge within the polymer solution to a point (critical point) at which the electrostatic repulsion due to the charge is greater than the surface tension of the solution, resulting in the formation of a polymer jet and eventually nanofibers. If you are using water as the solvent for PVA that may be your problem. Water has a very high surface tension, so as far as I am aware, it is not suitable for electrospinning.
IM USING water +pva+1ml silver nanoaprticles but im trying to use gold nanoparticles 30ppm the problem is that the solution didnt work at 17% 15%,7%,5% in 21g neddle 10% dont work and i have not enogh material.which solent do you recomend in gold nanoparticles 30ppm 20nm,0.5mm neddle and the nanoparticles are in pvp medium (al material are analitic grade).
Based on the video, your solution is spilling down rather than forming jets. This implies that your solution has low electrospinnability. PVA usually can be electrospun but it depends on if the solvent used to dissolve PVA is proper. It also depends on the type of PVA you are using. You need to find out the molecular weight of your PVA, and reduce the w/v if it is too thick. Another suggestion would be to adjust your setup to be bottom-up electrospinning or horizontal electrospinning to prevent the solution from spilling down and contaminating your sample.
