Dear Ayushi,

Are you referring to scattering cross sectional area or simply plain area. I firmly believe you are looking for the former. Hexagonal close packed structure of Cadmium allows it to have distinct cross sectional area. 

Dear Seema... Can you be specific as to how you arrived at 1.09e+6 barn value? Does it refer to pure cross sectional area or scattering cross sectional area of Cd?
