Producing activated biochar involves several steps:

Activation: Activate the biochar by exposing it to high temperatures (600-900°C) and an activating agent like steam, carbon dioxide, or chemicals. This process creates a highly porous structure, increasing its surface area and enhancing its adsorption capabilities.

Cooling: After activation, the biochar needs to be cooled down to room temperature before further processing or storage.

Washing: Wash the activated biochar to remove any remaining activating agents or impurities.

Drying: Dry the washed biochar to remove excess moisture.

Sizing: Optionally, size the activated biochar particles to achieve the desired particle size distribution for specific applications.

Packaging: Package the activated biochar for storage or transportation.

Throughout these steps, it's important to maintain quality control measures to ensure the final product meets desired specifications for porosity, surface area, and purity. Additionally, safety precautions should be followed, especially during pyrolysis and activation processes, as they involve high temperatures and potentially hazardous materials.

But my question is that shall I implement carbonization procedure after impregnating and drying the biochar with acid ?

Impregnation of biochar followed by drying is enough for activating the biochar?

Physical and chemical activation are very different. When chemically activating, you need to impregnate the chemical activant prior to pyrolysis for several hours. Time, concentration and ratio of activant/feedstock can vary. Physical activation via steam or CO2 is done after pyrolysis.

Mam, my objective is to produce Activated Biochar.

Therefore, I have already produced biochar by carbonization of fruit seed. After that I have impregnated the biochar by acid and dried it in oven. Is it necessary to carbonize the dried impregnated biochar again in furnace to maximize the surface area?

Impregnation should be done to the raw feedstock. Impregnation after the fact is not really activation.
