In the formation of SAMs. thiols, amines and carboxylic acids can bind to noble metals. I have formed self assembled monolayers of both thiol and amine compounds, but can't seem to find any information on the specific strength of such bonds, or at least figures close to what they should be.

The bond strength of thiol-gold is ~ 45 kcal/mol (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ja00237a017).
