The metaverse is an evolving experience for users (avatars) to have a 3d view of the physical world and collaborate inclusively even in various areas like manufacturing, designing, construction and entertainment.
What do you think will be the biggest security challenge users might face?
Like most technologies at their infancy, a lot should be considered. Chief among them is handlihg of the abuse of "anonymity" to perpetrate frauds and even bully.
Won't Metaverse be able to record everything its users see, say and hear?
I feel so too. The Metaverse is just like a continuous data streaming platform.
The bigger job then depends on the builders of the metaverse platforms to incorporate security and privacy mechanisms to keep users safe.
I assume it will be designed with same privacy and security as all our digital devices...that is....part of the economics of creating and maintaining the meta-verse.. And varied by local regulation. We'll promise and advertise the highest levels of security -and- use the value in user data.
Do aggressive developers ever exploit buyers' assumptions about privacy/security?
Often times this is the case. Especially when many of them lack ethics surrounding their DevOps. Also big stakeholders are involved in this exploit.
