I am trying to put MnO2/C composite on Al foil, however, the foil is getting damaged after couple of days. Please suggest me some alternate.
For aqueous supercapacitor, you can also try platinum foil. Can you clarify in what ways the aluminum seems damaged?
Thanks for your reply. One can use Pt but it is costly. One side of the aluminium foil was coated with MnO-C composite, NMP and PVDF was used. The corrosion mark could be observed on the another side of the foil.
I have never tested with Aluminum but have heard of it being used before in organic electrolyte supercapacitors. The corroding Al could be just due to unsuitable choice of voltage range or choice of electrolyte. Does the corrosion occur even if you reduce or change the voltage range?
Thanks Sankalp and Denys. I have been using aq. 1(M) Na2SO4 as electrolyte. Sankalp, I could see the corrosive marks before putting the electrodes to electrolyte. I shall change to Ti foil and change the voltage range. Thank you once again.
Nickel foam is a suitable current collector. Because using nickel foam you can load high mass ( 10 mg in 1 cm2). If nickel foam not possible, you can try with nickel foil.

However, try to
1. put Ti (foam) in an acid for about 5 to 10min then clean with dist. water,
and then make
2. your MnO2/C composite layer.
Nickel foam is a perfect. I am using it. Some scientists are using Ti foam, graphit/carbon paper or depositing the material over GCE. Good luck

ive discovered that. The culprit is MnO2 it Oxidizes Aluminum foil to Aluminum oxide just like it does to Zinc in Zinc carbon dry cells. Left my MnO2 on Al foil it was etched .
Nallal Muthuchamy , use spray method as the following ,
( 8 mg of active materilas + 1 mg of carbon black + 1mg of pvdf/ 4 ml NMP + 4 ml acetone ) lete the solution to rotate overnight and spray the solution on the surface of the nickle foam
after that dry it to remove NMP at 75 degree for 4 h.
