you will have to do some tricky work to overcome this problem of 3-D respresentation. Look at the paper below:

Thank you very much indeed for your kind answer.

I found in your article very nice 3D views including the geology, topography and some surface information, which is important.

Actually I am looking for different type of 3D softwares, the one which give us the oppertunity to visualize our "Fantasy" for the subsurface strata to present a theory for example, rather than Rockworks and Gocad which require database of real geological information.

I would draw a simple sketch on a paper and using Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, I would re-draw the the sketch which has an excellent quality for publication. The blocks you were showing can be drawn by both softwares.

I have good experiences with 'CorelDRAW X4', but

the best "software" is and will remain an experienced scientific illustrator.

My recommendation is: learning from designers who have experiences in geometric and graphical methods of geology.

For each black box and for each software in this box the incontrovertible rule is:

If you put rubbish in, rubbish will come out.

Excuse: that sounds harsh, but that is the reality.

It all depends on your own skill and creativity.

Each person develops his own style and art form.

Handmade drawings look much more alive and more authentic than computer graphics.

There are several softwares that can help you to create 3d blocks like the one you need for your figure. For instance I have used Rhinoceros to create 3d models, this is a graphic design software but is very straightforward, and the graphics are outstanding. other alternative could be google sketch, however you might need to combine this with illustrator or corel to obtain the results that you need. Finally once i created a 3d model like the figures you uploaded using powerpoint, is also super easy to use. From the most suitable softwares used in geological sections, maps...etc is the CorelDraw and for engineering and some geological geometrical 3D drawing is AutoCad....

I use special mining/geological information system Mineframe (http://mineframe.ru) (or similar - Datamine, Micromine etc.) to deal with spatially distributed data, then export to image files and "polish" by Adobe Illustrator.

Due to the positive response to my answer of December 13th, 2014, I present here an example of a meaningful hand drawing of a block diagram with geological and morphological details by my colleague Ewald Hejl, published in our paper (see attached):
