This question is asked in regard of recent advances of machine/deep learning algotihms. I am curious especially on numbers of letters/words that can be distinguished via EEG (or other modalities) within a specified amount of time. What is state of the art? Background is the goal of neuralink et al. (https://www.neuralink.com/) of assessing >100 words/minute.

In the following study, the average typing speed of 1.85 min per word was achieved with 100% accuracy (error correction). and 1.67 min per word without error correction.
