I'm currently using online differentiation techniques for velocity observation on magnetic levitation control. I tried an algebraic method (M.Fliess) and Sliding Mode Differentiators (Levant).

It seems that Sliding Differentiators have better noise immunity, while the Algebraic method has a very fast convergence. Does anyone knows what are the best recent observation techniques? (differentiaton or model-based observers)
