Analytical solutions for 'slug' tests in low permeability formations (Bredehoeft and Papadopoulos, 1980; Neuzil, 1982) assume that borehole pressurization is instantaneous, or at least short with respect to decay time. How results can be corrected in cases when borehole pressure is maintained before shut-in for a time that, although shorter than the decay time, may not be neglectable, ? Is there an alternative to fully numerical (e.g. FEM) solutions?
