The pylogenetic trees that I get from using MEGA 6 are quite small and hard to read and I am wondering how I can make them big and visible. In addition, what can be the best image software that I can edit a tree so it can be clear and readable on a power-point slide or in a word document?
Hi, I worked with MEGA5 (hopefully MEGA6 is not a step back..). I used to edit trees with the implemented options. Open your tree (via "data" tab) - then look for the tab "view" - the drop down menue offers "fonts" and "options". Fonts changes the writings of course, but if you need more space or really fat bars / linings look "options" - you can alter everything in the tree, I even used different colours for special branches. Export / Save as tiff. Good luck.
You can export them as pdf and open the vectorial pdf using inkscape or Adobe Illustrator. Works great and preserves font editability!

Or simply export the tree file as a Newick ro Nexus file (text with taxa and clades isolated by parentheses with branch lengths or bootstrap value attached to each taxa and each internal branch. Mega should be able to export tree files this way. And, as Willy suggests, open the tree file in figtree to edit it for publication.
