I am doing an experiment on corrosion in reinforced concrete. I am using half cell potential equipment and impressed current method to accelerate the corrosion. The factors I am considering for my experiment are concrete cover depth, concrete permeability and moisture content. Each factor has 3 levels (Low/Intermediate/High). Can anyone explain me how to use DOE for my experiment using above mentioned factors?
I am using 3 levels because i am trying use for 3 values for each factor. If i use 3 levels do i need to do 27 experiments ?? or can i reduce the experiments ??
Hector makes the point. Why do you need to use 3 levels? In the screening stage, two level factorial design is more efficient. 3 level and central composite design (CCD) are used to check for the existence of quadratic terms after you screen out all insignificant factors.
Don't forget to make replication so that the pure error can be estimated.
You can reduce the number of experiments using Taguchi method because it doesn't check all interactions.
