What is the best available technique for estimating/computing precipitation and ET for hydrological modelling (semi-distributed and distributed) in the places with significant orographic effect in monsoon dominated rain regime?
Isohyetal method is the best method for computing areal average precipitation in the places with significant orographic effect. ET can be computed using Blaney-Criddle method with reasonable accuracy. Its advantage is less data-demanding. It requires temperature data only.
I agree upto a certain degree with your response. However, i feel it needs to be qualified as i have not been able to encounter enough evidences supporting your reply.
Certainly so many methods are available for computation of P & ET. We do alot of IDW, Kriging for P . For ET hargreaves .Hamon too are less data demanding but to be confident during hydrologic modelling is very difficult with variety of climate in Nepal( from wet to semi arid to arid).
can you please share some links or papers that are in line with your replies.
We can discuss further..Again, I am thankful for your kind response.
Penman Monteith equation is the best method to estimate ET, because it use all the climatic parameters i.e. rainfall, temperature, SR, WS, and Humidity so that it can simulate better results than other methods.
