The software you suggested seems to be a tunnel project management or construction oriented software. But I need a tunnel design only software. Could you suggest another software more specific to tunnel design, please?
If you need to study the tunnel soil interaction problem then PLAXIS3D - TUNNEL software is well suited to your problem. You could find lots of literature related to the simulation of tunnel using PLAXIS3D software.
It's depends on your purpose and how mush you want investigate. But, generally I suggest you:
1. FLAC2D and FLAC3D (Itasca) is a completed software with most purpose of civil engineering problems.
2. PLAXIS3D (not PLAXIS3D Tunnel) made in Netherland; in this version of software you can model a tunnel in the 3D space and there are many soil behavior in this version. I don't suggest the PLAXIS3D Tunnel software, because it is not completed model and you can special case such as tunnels junction, niche, cross section of tunnel and shaft, and etc.
3. GTS-NX Midas (made in Korea) is the best software for you goal. It has a lot of soil behaviors, you can import the CAD3D file to the software, it is almost user-friendly, and etc.
4. UDEC and 3DEC (Itasca); if you just simulate the tunnels in the discontinues media.
Wawo. What a great reply. I had already heard of Phase 2 but I did not know that its latest version id RS2. Do you know its expected price? What are the main features of RS2? Is it suitable for Asian region as well?
I recently bought it for USD 5000 and for single user. I think it costs more if multi user version needed. I used FLAC in the past. Nowadays I enjoy using it mostly for rock tunnel stability analysis in Himalayan tunnel. please visit rocscience website - for its features.
