There are many confinement models for predicting the strength & stress-strain behavior of FRP confined concrete. Those are mostly two types; one is design-oriented model and another is analysis-oriented model. Is there anyone who can explain me the difference between these two types of models and how can we apply these models practically?
A design oriented model generally comprises of a closed-form stress-strain equation derived directly from interpretation of enpirical model. The accuracy of this model is highly dependent on the ultimate condition of confined concrete. For analysis-oriented model, stress strain curves are generated using an incremented numerical procedure which acconted for the interaction between the confining material and concrete. The analysis of these models is highly dependent on the modeling of lateral-to-axial strain relationship of confined concrete.
