Ex. I have taken a sample of x papers. Total number of contributing authors in these x papers are N authors. However, some authors have contributed in more than one papers in the sample. Say the authors collection in the sample is as follows { a, b, c, d, a, e, b, f, d, g}.
What is most suitable index to express dissimilarity in this sample?

I think you should use either Euclidean distance, or Mahalanobis Distance. However, there are other options. Please follow this article:
