I mean, surely Chaotic sequences generated by using various methods have noise like properties but why use chaotic sequences when we have pseudo-random number generators which can be efficiently used in designing secure communication systems and various other applications of cryptography. But what is the benefit of using sequences generated by Chaotic maps? OR is it just an alternative method? Can anybody please elaborate? Thank you!
Thank you Robert Wahlstedt for the answer but my question still remain unanswered. Let me try to explain that again. Is there a reason to prefer sequences generated using Chaotic maps over PRN. IF Yes, what is it? Of course both of them has noise like properties and entropy and other characteristics may help in choosing one for any particular application but my concern is sort of a comparison of chaotic sequences and pseudo noise.
I think that pseudo-random can be made chaotic. The issue with pseudo-random generators is that they do repeat, on a regular interval. But if the cycle can itself becomes random, that approaches a chaotic system.

Thank you Mr. Albert. I have not found the exact answer to my question but you have raised an important point and I hope it can be of great help. So let me ask that. First, is it true that cycle length of any random number generator will have a fixed length, i.e. if 'XXX' is a random number generator and it has a cycle length of 'Y' then no matter what the initial conditions are, if the method of generation is not manipulated, the cycle length of 'XXX' will remain 'Y'? Is that what you are saying?
Second, if the cycle length of any generator becomes random, can we say that system a Chaotic system? Because, I think, that for a system to be declared chaotic, there are some other conditions that have to be satisfied, for instance, high sensitivity to initial conditions.
Hi Fahad, I think the second paper covers that. See, for example, Section 3.3.
Basically, chaotic systems are used because of their extreme sensitivity to the initial conditions, this hypersensitivity makes a chaotic system different for use in cryptography from any other pseudo random noise generator.
