Often the mentally, sickened evils are in control, in power and the victims are, stressed into mental health medications.
Rohit Bansal, first society needs to be well educated on mental health issues so that they can understand that everyone is prone to mental health conditions hence their role will be to promote valuing diversity. This means that if someone has a mental health condition people will be in a position to accept them as they are which helps even in recovery. Society must be in a position to detect mental illness early and help each other seek intervention without fear of stigma and discrimination.
The society needs to be made aware of the issue that it is damaging and dangerous, can be life threatening. You cannot educate whole society, you can make awareness. In the society, with awareness there ,ist be system of allocated responsibilities.
If we wait for to be educated, it's going to be late to too late.
It the society in the First place, is guilty for some faults in it or by some people often the mental health issue is triggered, to let to suffering to life threatening.
I believe that fighting the stigma of mental health requires a collective effort on the part of society, individuals, organizations and the media to create a more inclusive and understanding environment.
People are more prone to stigmatize what they know very little about. This breeds fear and in response, some level of avoidance. Society has need to be educated about mental health issues. This mental deconstruct is important while acceptance increased with better treatment and behavioral control.
The role of society begins with media representation. Positive and accurate representations of mental health in the media can change public perceptions. Media can play a powerful role in shaping attitudes and reducing stigma by portraying mental health issues in a realistic and empathetic manner.
Society has a key role to play in combating mental health stigma. Through education and awareness, we can challenge prejudices and encourage open conversations on the topic. Initiatives such as awareness campaigns, training programs for professionals, and more realistic media representation are important steps to reduce discrimination. Discussing mental health in schools, workplaces, and communities creates a more inclusive and supportive environment, helping people feel less alone and more willing to seek help.
Society plays a crucial role in reducing mental health stigma by promoting awareness, education, and inclusion.
Social norms, media narratives, and community support directly influence public attitudes. Evidence shows that community-based interventions, peer support, and psychoeducation significantly reduce stigma (Corrigan et al., 2012).
Integrating culturally sensitive approaches like yoga, mindfulness, and local healing traditions can further enhance acceptance and access to care.
