I have previously used Cosmed's K4 and although the actual data it collects is usually fine, we found that the equipment itself constantly ran into issues that needed servicing. This meant long waiting time during repairs and incredibly high repair costs.
Does anyone have any experience with the K5? Have they fixed the issues with the previous models and improved the reliability of this system? Also, anyone with an opinion, positive or negative, it would be great to have your input so I can make a decision as to whether pursue this equipment or search out alternatives.

Overall not the best....
We have had difficulty with the device working at altitude, although not 100% sure if they claim this so might be unfair for me to say that. At sea level our device seems to have considerable variation in RER data, and so much so that a fat max protocol was very difficult to carry out with this gas analyser (i.e. determination of an RER of 1.0 was virtually impossible). We have also had a similar problem with one of our K4's so maybe they just haven't corrected that problem.
Positives are it is extremely light and portable so no problem for treadmill protocols. Likewise, the battery is very good so will last multiple tests which is handy and a great improvement on the old K4.
