The solar energy is clean, non-hazardous and infinite, satisfying the main objectives of all alternative energy strategies. The optimal sensitized solar cell should be panchromatic, that is, absorb visible light of all colors. Ideally, all photons below a threshold wavelength of about 920 nm should be harvested and converted to electric current.
