I'm here asking a very pertinent questions related to my study. Please help me sort out. Which research approach/methodology should I adopt to carry on research in developing appropriate English Language Pedagogy for school students?

Observation research would be best so the use of a qualitative methodology may be most beneficial.
Adopting experimental research will give better results and also it will help to analyze the progress as well.
Vidyanand Malik I recommend using the mixed-method, and the intervention pedagogical approaches such as: (1) arts-based learning, (2) research-based learning, (3) project-based learning, (4) outdoor nature-based learning, (5) inquiry-based learning, (6) cooperative/collaborative learning, and others as they emerged interactively in the learning/teaching environment/s.
Triangulation research method, and mixed methods, are very appropriate researching approaches to utilize when you treat English Lanaguge Pedagogy topics, there are several reasons for doing so; first despite quantitative data you also need to gather qualitative data as well in order to support and to explain better your quantitative results, qualitative data usually diacovers something that might be new, this usually occurs when you conduct interviews. So I would recommend this research approach.
The interview and questionnaire with all the stakeholders can be means to collect both qualitative and quantitative data and help you gain insights into your topic.

Language pedagogy is approached from various angles. Grammar and structure are important, according to the structural approach. The goal of the functional approach is to show pupils how language is used in communication. An interactive method draws attention to the social and cultural setting in which language is used.
Vidyanand Malik Vidyanand, Don't assume students are the same. Or they all think verbally. Or they all share common goals. Or that you can use an evaluation method that looks to see if they all respond with"right" answers. Please figure out how to teach them to learn. Do that and all the rest is minor. --- Oh, I forgot, even more important, teach them to help one another learn. !!!!
