Recently, i was required to fill a self-progress report for my mid-term evaluation. One of the questions posed in the form was - "Which scholarly tradition (s) is the research project based on?". I think, i have a vague idea, what is being asked here. But can someone kindly explain in greater details, hopefully with some sources as to what does this term exactly means?
It is what theoretically and conceptually informs your work; that it is about the abstract rather than the concrete empirics of you work. You have to demonstrate in short order that there is more about you than what you are currently doing. and that you are able to contextualize you work in a a broader context. All disciplines have a complex and often contested history; where do you stand on this? It is fine to say that you adopt a variety of standpoints, and then you you have to explain and justify your pluralism or eclecticism.

So, as a for instance, where do you sit on this claimed divide. It is also worth researching the people where you are applying to see their positionality and ethos.
By scholarly tradition we mean the approach, for example the eclectic approach, the task-based approach and the competency-based approach.
