Knowledge, or remembering, is the first step in learning because it gives us the building blocks we will use to proceed to higher levels. One must be able to count before one can do arithmetic operations. One must know the names of the colors before one can learn about how colors are used, either artistically or metaphorically.
I believe what Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad has rightly pointed is quite correct and appropriate.. gaining knowledge is a part of learning.. however, there are only a few like me who are just engrossed in learning and who have passion for so many different kind of spheres of learning..
Trained as a chemist when a young boy I have indulged in just too much of reading and learning.. as they say excess of everything is bad so I must say the knowledge we gain must be put to some use.. my venture back into chemistry was not so successful... and I remain a programmer
