Dear Colleagues!
Help, please, to understand the question of what is instinct in fact? According to the Wikipedia definition, “The instinct is a collection of innate tendencies and aspirations expressed in the form of complex automatic behavior. In a narrow sense, a set of complex hereditary behavioral acts characteristic of individuals of a given species under certain conditions”. According to another (physiological) point of view, “The instinct is a complex of motor acts or a sequence of actions characteristic of an organism of a given species, the implementation of which depends on the functional state of the animal and according to current situation. Instinctive reactions are innate, and their high species specificity is often used as a taxonomic trait along with the morphological features of a given species of animal”. Which of these definitions is more accurate?
