Finding new and innovative methods of teaching is a crucial skill for teachers of all levels. Brain research has shown that certain methods and approaches can enhance the learning process compared to conventional methods of teaching. Applying innovative learning and attention-management techniques to classes is a win-win for both students and teachers.
The issue of pedagogical innovation, even if necessary at present, can be treated with more caution. Not always innovate can mean relevant and meaningful pedagogical practices. Sometimes innovation operates only as a strategy that regulates the work of teachers. I think we need to suspect the centrality of active learning methodologies.
Our learners are changing, and in fact the way society learns is changing, that means our practices much change - innovate - to keep pace with our learners. If not, we will lose them!
