Glass transition temperature (Tg) is something that happens in polymers and one that makes polymers special is the change of its state from glass to soft, rubbery or molten etc. state. When the polymer is cooled below this temperature, it becomes hard and brittle, like glass. Some polymers are used above their Tg, and some are used below. Hard plastics like polystyrene and poly(methyl methacrylate) are used below their Tg that is in their glassy state. Their Tg's are well above room temperature, both at around 100 oC.
Seed pelleting which is a process of adding inert materials to seeds to change their size and shape for improved plantability. Small and irregularly shaped seeds, such as lettuce seeds, can be treated as larger, round-shaped seed. By knowing the Tg in an appropriate polymer of interest seed pelleting can be processed accordingly.
